Sioni Rhys Handweavers

Sioni Rhys Handweavers are located in Wales, as are many of our artists. Denis selects the colours and Stuart designs as he weaves. All the pieces are hand woven. Although there will often be several carthen made in one session, each one is slightly different. They are all made using Welsh wool and in some of the wraps silk and mohair and alpaca are added in to give more lightness. .

Carthen are traditional Welsh blankets, often passed down through families from one generation to the next. They have long tassels.  They make ideal wedding presents or a stunning statement in a room design - the choice is yours. Other colours available so please let us know if you want something to match a colour scheme. Travel Rugs are slightly smaller than Carthen and have no tassels at the ends. More like the traditional picnic rug. Fashion Wraps are lighter weight and are also known as shawls. Suitable for evening wear.
