Philip Muirden, award winning highly regarded west coast
painter, lives and works in Pembrokeshire, from where he draws
much of his inspiration. He lives just a stone’s throw from
Milford Haven port which gives him a lot of sailing life to
record. Almost all of Philip’s drawings and paintings have a
story attached, from the boat being decommissioned because of
the EU fishing quotas to the Belgian vessels impounded by HM
Customs & Excise, chasing non-payment of monies due!
Muirden has over 47 years’ experience as an artist, starting life
as an art teacher and progressing to Senior Lecturer at
Mansfield and Head of Foundation Studies at Newport Colleges of
Art. When he isn’t painting he is still a guest lecturer.
His imaginative well-drawn pieces can be found in a variety of
collections such as Museum and Art
Gallery, Newport; Contemporary Arts Council Wales, Cardiff
and Arts Council of Wales to name but a few.
He
has been a finalist in the Sunday Times Watercolour of the Year
Show on three separate occasions over the last 10 years. His
works have been shown by the Royal Watercolour Society, London;
the Royal Society of British Artists; the Royal Academy Summer
Exhibition and on many occasions at exhibitions in Cardiff,
Newport and elsewhere in Wales. |
