Aidan Kirkpatrick

Aidan Kirkpatrick trained at the Glasgow School of Art where he studied painting under Gilbert Spencer, RA, Douglas Percy Bliss and Trevor Makinson. He was one of the founders of the East Anglian Group of Marine Artists.

Aidan Kirkpatrick EAGMA

Aidan Kirkpatrick was born in Norwich in 1932 and died November 2014. He was educated at Ulverston Grammar School and the Glasgow School of Art. He studied painting under Gilbert Spencer, R.A.. Douglas Percy Bliss and Trevor Makinson.

Aidan took up etching in 1974 under the guidance of Henry Holzer and was presented with the Goldsmith’s Travel Award in 1976. Elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in 1983 he worked principally in England, The Netherlands and Belgium.

Aidan has exhibited with the Royal Society of British Arts, The Royal Institute and the Royal Water Colour Society. His many one-man shows in the East of England have included Snape Maltings, Haste Gallery, Crome Gallery and Holford Gallery. He is represented in collections all over the world.

Aidan was a loved and respected member of the East Anglian Group of Marine Artists and chaired the Group for twenty years. His work can be found at Sea Pictures Gallery for as long as our stocks last!
